Four scenarios for the future of youth cooperation in the Western Balkans (EPC, Brussels)

Results of the one-year long project Regional Policy Academy, which Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence implements together with our partners from European Fund for the Balkans will be presented on Monday, January 30 at the European Policy Centre in Brussels.

Four different scenarios on the position of the youth in the Western Balkans until 2020 will be presented. These scenarios are the product of work of the group of 21 participants of the Academy – politicians, civil servants and think-tankers from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia.

The participants of the Academy, using the method of strategic foresight, came to the conclusion that relations among the youth in the Western Balkans the key for the success of the European integration as well as the stability of the region.

They had the opportunity to get acquainted with the strategic foresight method and than to apply it in order to identify the issue which they found to be most relevant for cooperation among Western Balkans countries. After that they developed possible scenarios for the future position of the youth in the Western Balkans.

Tanja Tomik, Member of the Managing Board, Social Democratic Alliance and Former Member of the Macedonian Parliament, Elena Bodeva (Policy Officer, Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Milena Lazarevic (Programme Manager, CEP Belgrade, Serbia) will present the final paper, and the discussion that will follow will also have Wout Van Caimere (Coordinator of the European Parliament Youth Intergroup), Marilyn Neven (Office of International IDEA to the EU) as discussants. Corina Stratulat (Senior Policy Analyst, European Policy Centre) will moderate the session.

The event is organised by the European Policy Centre, in cooperation with the European Fund for the Balkan. The Swiss Embassy in Serbia supported the Regional Policy Academy project.
