Getting citizens involved in City of Niš budgeting process

BFPE and partners in 15 cities and municipalities in Serbia encourage different forms of citizen involvement in the process of creating local budgets.

As a result of positive initiative in Nis, which has generated widespread public interest, BFPE, local government and our partner – PROTECTA – are organizing the roundtable entitled “Getting citizens involved in City of Niš budgeting process – how to reach participatory budgeting?” on 11 May 2017.

Thanks to the understanding and cooperation with partners from the UNDP and state authorities, the round table will include experts from the State Audit Institution, the Ministry of Finance and UNDP, joined by representatives of local government, local public enterprises and institutions, the local community and civil society organizations.

Conclusions and findings of the round table, as well as recommendations for concrete measures leading to participatory budgeting in Nis will be shared through local media.
