National Dialogue Platform to take place in Belgrade

The National Dialogue Platform will be held as part of the joint regional “Dialogue for the Future” program on 16 October 2019 starting at 9 a.m. (Hotel Hyatt, Milentija Popovica 22). The Joint Regional Program “Dialogue for the Future: Improving Dialogue and Social Cohesion in / and Between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia” is implemented by UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO and funded by the UN Peace building Fund (UN PBF).

The aim of the National Dialogue Platform is to work together to identify local and regional factors that influence social cohesion and to propose solutions for its improvement.

Dialogue platforms are a mechanism for providing formal space for interaction between citizens and decision-makers through dialogue, enabling young people, civil society, academia, the media and citizens to jointly identify, promote and carry out confidence-building activities and strengthening social cohesion in the Republic of Serbia as well as in the region.

It is very important for the growth and development of every society that all citizens, especially young people, become active participants in society and drivers of change who, together with representatives of decision-makers, will participate in policy development in order to overcome the key challenges we face in our society, but also in region.

The event will bring together various actors: adolescents and young people, women and civil society organisations dealing with gender equality, media, teachers, public institutions at national and local level, non-governmental organisations, private sector, academia, international organisations, interested citizens / experts, experts, and many others.

The event will be opened by the Minister of Youth and Sports and the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Vanja Udovicic, Francine Pickup, UNDP Permanent Representative in Serbia, and Severina Leonardi, UNICEF Deputy Director in Serbia.
