Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence in cooperation with local partners from 15 municipalities and cities in Serbia in the current year continuously implements a campaign of citizen involvement in the local budgeting process in order to improve the transparency and accountability of public finances at the local level. All this is taking place within the project “Local self-governments, civil society organizations and the media for more responsible public finances”, which BFPE conducts in partnership with the Association of Independent Electronic Media, supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Swiss Cooperation Office (SDC).

In cooperation with partners from UNDP, BFPE also organizes video documenting of final activities, in order to promote good public finance management at the local level, but also calls for activism and active and constructive involvement of citizens and civil society in democratic processes at the local level.

Street actions, round tables, public budget discussions, forums and meetings with representatives of local governments are just some of the activities that we are continually implementing for months, which will also be found on the film in the case of some of the cities that we will visit within the project final – Leskovac , Loznica, Novi Sad, Nis and Zajecar. We will monitor progress and show examples of good practice and cooperation at the local level, as well as obstacles on the way to responsible public finances – because the budget of our cities is our budget!
