On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, the first high-level meeting will be organized to mark the beginning of the process of national consultations before the international meeting “Stockholm + 50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity”. The meeting will be held at the Palace of Serbia and will bring together representatives of various organizations and sectors, while the structure of the meeting will be in line with the concept proposed globally by the host of the meeting in Stockholm.

In order to mark the 50th anniversary of the first United Nations Conference on the Environment, held in Stockholm in 1972, and more importantly, to define a new global vision of sustainable development, the Swedish Government is organizing an international meeting in Stockholm “Stockholm + 50: Healthy Planet”. for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity “which will be held on June 2 and 3. Founded in the Decade for Action and bearing in mind that we have only a few years ahead of us to achieve the goals of sustainable development, the meeting will recall the activities and results achieved in the past five decades and encourage the creation of a common global vision for the long term.

Governments around the world are invited to take part in this event and to organize national consultations in advance to discuss processes, achievements, plans, and goals, all in the context of national circumstances. Serbia is one of the 59 countries that are, with the financial assistance of the Government of Sweden and the direct support of the UNDP office in Belgrade, organizing national consultations. The consultations will include various entities and interest groups, to prepare a national report for the upcoming meeting in Stockholm. National consultations in Serbia should enable and facilitate the creation of a new paradigm on the relationship between man and nature, taking into account the national context, key processes as well as international obligations and commitments of the Republic of Serbia.
