Within the project “Youth Leading the Way to Security”, the Foundation BFPE for a Responsible Society organized the first training for young people from Leskovac, Raška, and Priboj, held on February 7–8 in Vrnjačka Banja.

During the two-day programme, participants had the opportunity to learn about the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda, its relevance for local communities, and the role of young people in decision-making processes. Through interactive sessions, discussions, and practical examples, topics such as youth security in the local context, different forms of violence, and broader social challenges were explored, along with ways in which young people can actively contribute to addressing them.

A special focus was placed on understanding advocacy and the tools young people can use to articulate their needs and influence local policies. Through working with trainers and facilitators, participants developed basic knowledge and skills necessary for their further engagement in project activities.

The training also marked the starting point for continued work with young people, who will, in the coming period, further develop concrete initiatives and proposals aimed at improving security in their local communities.

This activity was implemented within the project “Youth Leading the Way to Security”, supported through the RYCOgnizing YPS grant scheme, funded by the German Cooperation and implemented by the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO).
