The INGE meeting on Thursday 2 December from 9.00 to 12.00 will start with a hearing on “Foreign interference in the Western Balkans”, which will be held in association with the Committee on Foreign Affairs’ Working Group on the Western Balkans. After the hearing, there will be a presentation of the in-depth analysis on “The misuse of social media platforms and other communication channels by authoritarian regimes: lessons learned”.

During the hearing on “Foreign interference in the Western Balkans”, Members will examine how different state actors are attempting to increase their influence in the region through various means. The invited experts to the hearing are:

  • Ms Tena Prelec, Research Fellow, Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford
  • Mr Dejan Jović, Professor of Political Science, University of Zagreb and Visiting Professor at University of Belgrade
  • Ms Arlinda Rrustemi, Security Expert at The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS) and Lecturer for MA and BA programs on Politics and a Director of Peace Analytics, Leiden University
  • Mr Stefan Vladisavljev, Program Coordinator, Foundation BFPE for a Responsible Society.
