This seminar is organized within the scope of the project “Local self-governments, civil society organizations and the media for responsible public finances” implemented in partnership with the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM), support of the United Nations Development Programme in Serbia (UNDP) and the Swiss Cooperation Office (SDC).

The seminar will bring together representatives of the National Parliament from Leskovac, Educational Center Krusevac, the Association for Creativity Development from Aleksinac, the Centre for development of the Civil Society “PROTECTA” from Niš, MODUS from Vranje, the Timok Youth Center, Association “Stablo” from Kragujevac, FORCA – Forum of Civil Action Pozega , Užice Center for Human Rights and Democracy, Podrinje Anti-Corruption Team, Urban In and DamaD from Novi Pazar, Human Rights Committee in Valjevo, the European Movement in Serbia – Novi Sad, the Local Democracy Agency from Subotica and the Association against Corruption from Zrenjanin.

The main goal of the seminar is to discuss the results and effects of activism and advocacy for involving citizens and the public in the processes of local budgeting and improving the accountability of local public finances.

Consultative seminar will help all partners and BFPE to exchange experiences, but also to plan future activities and work on the first draft of a brochure with examples of good practice. BFPE, together with associates, will develop the brochure to document their project experiences, compare the effectiveness of different strategies to increase participation at the local level and convey examples of good practice to other local governments, and other interested parties in the Republic of Serbia.
