At this year’s edition of the Ecofair, on Tuesday, 13 October BFPE took part in a debate devoted to recycling in Serbia. Having in mind our long-term engagement in environment protection, first and foremost as the informal Secretariat of the Green Parliamentary Group, as well as part of the coordination mechanism the Green Chair, our Valentina Djureta together with colleague Mirko Popovic of the Belgrade Open School moderated the debate Recyclers vs. the State – are we Working Together?

The actual debate was organized by the Serbian Association of the packaged waste recyclers. “Recyclers” team consisted of Mikhail Mateski, General Manager of Greentech, Sandra Ziherl from Umka Paper Plant and Kristina Cvejanov, President of Sara, while “team State” was led by Aleksandar Vesic, Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection; Branislav Blazic , MP and Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Protection, while Dragan Jeremic, Deputy Mayor of Valjevo, was the reinforcement from the side of local self-government. Special guest of the debate was Professor Mirjana Ivanović Drenovak, member of the Negotiating Team for Chapter 27.
