In Belgrade on June 30, 2022, the event “Synergy of the business sector and CSOs – experiences and recommendations” was organized as part of the project “Active citizens: Better society”. The project is supported by the American Agency for International Development (USAID), and is implemented by the Foundation BFPE for a Responsible Society in cooperation with the Belgrade Open School (BOŠ) and the Balkan Research Network (BIRN).

The participants had the opportunity to learn about the civil society support program for public advocacy and cooperation with the business sector, but also to hear more about the business component within the civil society support program for public advocacy. Using the “peer to peer learning” method, the participants had the opportunity to talk with representatives of CSOs who have established successful cooperation with the business sector on topics such as: steps in establishing cooperation with the business sector, methods of communication and presentation of ideas, challenges in establishing cooperation , as well as lessons learned.

An important segment of this event was the “partnership cafe” where thematic round tables were organized. Within this segment, the participants had the opportunity to talk to a representative of the business sector they are interested in and present their ideas, but also to learn more about working methods and cooperation models, and practical advice that can help them realize their ideas. This was followed by the panel “How to work together for a better society – recommendations and experiences”, and at the end, parallel focus groups were organized for representatives of the business community and civil society organizations.
