From 10 to 12 October 2025, Ruma, Serbia, became a hub of creativity and collaboration, hosting the first of two regional youth exchanges within the Youth 4 Inclusion, Equality & Trust initiative.

The event brought together young artists, journalists, and community leaders from across the region who use art, culture, and media to promote inclusion, diversity, and trust. Over three days, participants engaged in a variety of interactive workshops, creative labs, and collaborative sessions, where they explored innovative approaches to fostering dialogue and understanding in their communities.

Under the guidance of experienced mentors and facilitators from the region, participants learned practical skills in project design, storytelling, and community engagement. They had the opportunity to receive tailored feedback on their ideas, co-create initiatives, and connect with peers who share a commitment to social change.

The Ruma exchange marks the beginning of a creative journey that will continue with a Creative Boot Camp in Albania in November, where participants will further develop their projects in a hands-on, intensive setting. This will be followed by a mentorship phase, during which selected participants will receive ongoing support to refine and implement their initiatives, turning ideas into tangible actions within their communities.

This youth exchange programme is implemented by UNDP Serbia, UNDP & UNFPA Albania, and the Foundation BFPE for a Responsible Society, as part of the regional joint UN initiative Youth 4 Inclusion, Equality & Trust, supported by the UN Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund.
