Foundation BFPE for a Responsible Society, Atlantic Council and the Albanian Media Institute are organizing an expert round table “Regional Cooperation for European Integration”, which will  be held in Tirana, Albania, on March 16th and 17th, 2022. within the “Balkan Dialogues” initiative.

We start from the proposition that our region, two decades in the processes of socio-political transformation, still lacks a strong constituency. In order to push regional cooperation forward, existing policy frameworks must be expanded to encompass other fields of social interaction,  such as business, culture, education, innovation, environment protection, even sport.

With the event in Tirana, organizers wish to define and propose priorities, not only short-term, for achieving regional economic integration that would help convergence with the  EU and other developed markets and  countries. This will be the first out of several events planned to take place in 2022. The keynote speaker on March 17th will be H.E. Edi Rama, Prime  Minister of Albania and the participants will  include key decision makers – representing governments, international organizations, civil society, and business community.

Comprised of decision makers and experts from the six countries of the Western Balkans (WB6), including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, along with the European Union, United States, Russia and China – the dialogues are designed to help increase and deepen understanding, while building trust between representatives of varying geopolitical interests present in the region today.

Since their inception in 2019, Balkan Dialogues have been supported by the Open Society Foundation-Serbia and Balkan Trust for Democracy.
