Cooperative reintegration model of Roma returnees at the international ISHHR conference

Following the inception and piloting of the “Cooperation model” that contributed to the employment of Roma returnees in three local self-governing units in Serbia – Nis, Subotica and Vranje during 2016 and 2017, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence (BFPE) and the Standing Conference of Roma Citizens’ Associations – The League of Roma are present the achievements of their model as well as the obstacles encountered during its implementation, within the auspices of annual international conference of the International Society for Health and Human Rights (ISHHR). The model was implemented in the framework of the project “Support to the Reintegration of Roma Returnees” dedicated to the employment, education and accommodation of Roma, whose asylum applications were rejected in the countries of the European Union.

UNDP, BFPE and partners ara organizing the workshop “Cooperation through Co-operation” on Tuesday, September 26th Novi Sad Fair, Master congress center, Hajduk Veljkova 11, Novi Sad, within the ISHHR Conference. In an effort to present the results achieved, the envisaged workshop discusses the methods of supporting returnees, but also aims to address the issues of the most vulnerable categories of returnees – young people and women.

At the workshop, representatives of public institutions, international and non-governmental organizations will present and argue their views on the model of cooperative and local cooperation, as well as other methods and instruments for reintegration of returnees, within the framework of several thematic sessions.
