The Foundation BFPE for a Responsible Society organized the second national seminar within its oldest political education program – the Annual Seminar – from May 23 to 25 in Šabac.

Over the course of three days, this year’s participants had the opportunity to take part in a series of debates, lectures, and workshops dedicated to understanding current geopolitical challenges and the positioning of Serbia and the region within the modern international context.

The overarching theme of the seminar was In the Shadow of Global Change: Serbia’s Geopolitical Position and the Future of the Region, and participants had the chance to explore topics in the fields of international relations, security, and European integration.

The seminar opened with a lecture on Australia’s role in maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific region. The discussions that followed covered topics such as the sustainability of Serbia’s foreign policy, regional cooperation in the Western Balkans, and the security challenges Europe is facing in an era of global uncertainty. On the final day, a session was held on Serbia’s policy of military neutrality, followed by a closing panel dedicated to the Belgrade–Pristina dialogue.

The Annual Seminar is part of the Council of Europe’s Network of Schools of Political Studies and is implemented with the support of the Council of Europe, in partnership with the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies and the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
