The first thematic debate was held with the MPs, members of the informal Green Parliamentary Group on Wednesday, 1 November at the Green Salon of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
The main topic of the meeting was an overview of the current environmental protection policy in Serbia in the process of European integration. Members of the GPG also discussed the biggest challenges in this area, as well as expectations and obligations in the process of negotiations with the EU. Independent consultant, Mr. Mirko Popović also attended the meeting, and has presented an overview of the situation in terms of the Chapter 27. Members of GPG also addressed the issue of access to information through which civil society can monitor the progress of the Republic of Serbia towards EU in this area, importance of the role of the Committee on Environmental Protection, communication with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and initiatives of the Committee that would put environmental issues on society agenda in the Republic of Serbia.
The meeting was attended by MPs: Nada Lazić, Gordana Čomić, Dijana Vukomanović, Olena Papuga, Sonja Pavlović, Goran Čabradi, Borka Grubor, Jasmina Karanac, Muamer Bačevac i Svetlana Nikolić Pavlović.
