The Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence has presented the goals and results of the project “Needs assessment and training of local self-governments and youth and Roma-oriented civil society organizations” in Media and Reform Center Niš. With this project, we hoped to increase the level of citizen participation of Roma in Serbia.

In the course of the project, we have implemented 20 workshops in four regions of Serbia, which were attended by almost 400 participants from 40 municipalities and cities of Vojvodina, Belgrade, Western and South and Eastern Serbia. Participants have underwent intensive training on project cycle, strategic planning, proposal writing and European projects, youth and community activism, results of the Roma Decade and inclusive strategy, as well as training in communicating to different target audiences”, said Program Coordinator in BFPE Žarko Stepanović.

This project was implemented in the framework of a wider initiative managed by the OSCE Mission in Serbia, as part of the technical support provided to the Govt. of Serbia Office for Human and Minority Rights, funded by SIDA – Swedish International Development Agency.
