Program description

The inaugural session of the Working Group (WG) Energy was held on Friday, 3 April 2015 at the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

We assume that questions which will be opened during the negotiations include state aid  (in the sector), the internal market as well as nuclear energy , but as two most important the group has recognized the issues of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

Working group encountered a number of issues that are cross-sectoral, and in particular have to do with environmental protection.

Improving energy efficiency is certainly one of the key topics for the local government, as a matter of production and distribution of thermal energy lies within their direct responsibility. Serbia is already faced with the problem because the Energy Efficiency Fund, which was established in September 2013 has not come to life.

Given time limits and with the available resources, and taking into account the complexity of the subject, our decision was to focus on issues of local energy seeing this can bring the best results.

Our colleague Valentina Djureta is directly engaged in the coordination of the working group 15.
